How can I get access to pick up runs?

Due to overwhelming interest, our runs are currently invite only and referral only. You must be invited by our founder or any longtime members to participate. Follow us on Instagram for the most up to date information on upcoming events and opportunities to join us on and off the court.
Do you have to be a certain skill level to participate?

Yes. Our level of play is experienced/advanced. Many of our community members are former college players. Beginners looking to learn the game should seek more suitable options for their skill level.
If I get invited, can I share the sign up links with my friends?

We do not host open runs, so please do not share the sign up links that are shared with you. All participants must be approved by the founder and/or founding members. If you know an experienced player that is interested in joining our runs, please reach out to comethru@hoopyorkcity.com.

Sharing the sign up links will get you removed from our email list.
Where is the run located?

Locations will vary, but we primarily play in Brooklyn and Manhattan at both indoor and outdoor facilities. The address will be shared upon sign-up confirmation.
Is there a minimum age requirement to play?

Yes, for insurance purposes you must be at least 25 years old to play with us.
What are the pickup games like?

Our pickup games tend to be fast-paced, with several 7-10 minute games taking place over 1.5-2hrs. We do not keep score! We find that it allows you to focus more on the elements of teamwork, skill and friendly competition rather than ‘winning’ and ‘losing.’

Note: If we ever have to cancel an outdoor run due to poor weather conditions or need to communicate something to you quickly like a location change, we will email you.
What if I sign up for a run and can't make it?

Work runs late or something else comes up? Please reach out to us ASAP at comethru@hoopyorkcity.com so we can free up your spot for someone else. If you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled run you’re signed up for, you will be not be refunded. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund.

If you no-show, it will count against your standing in the group. No-show twice and you will be removed from our email list. Please be courteous and reach out when you cannot make it.
Can I invite my friends / family to watch me play?

We do not allow spectators unless they are approved in advanced. We only host closed runs, so please not bring anyone with you unless they are approved by the organizer first.
What should I bring?

Please bring water, basketball sneakers, your inhaler, your epi-pen, or whatever else you may need or want after working up a sweat. We have plenty of size 6 basketballs for you to warm up with, so you are not required to bring one.

Who should I look for when I arrive?

You can’t miss us! In our experience, we’re typically the only group of women you’ll see on the court. If all else fails, look for our founder, Alex (see photo on our About page).
What are the rules and regulations?
  • You will be asked to sign a waiver before you can participate in any games with us.
  • Proper basketball sneakers are required to play. No running shoes, tennis shoes or the like. You will have to be a spectator if you show up to play in them. No exceptions. This is for your own safety! If there’s any chance that you cannot afford basketball sneakers, no worries, please email us and we will figure something out :)
  • Please be on time. Ex: If the pickup run is scheduled to start at 7pm, please try to arrive at 6:45pm to have enough time to warm up.

What is the return policy?

All items are final sale, no returns or exchanges unless an item arrives damaged and we are notified within 5 days of delivery.

When will I get my order?

Delivery times vary depending on your location. We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information.
What can I expect if I'm an international customer?

We ship worldwide! All international orders are shipped Delivery Duties Unpaid (DDU); you may incur additional costs at customs.
